This is always my favorite option for Panelview standard terminals unless they're on Ethernet. There are a few steps required, but it works for any PV standard (550 and up) no matter the communication.
One memory card holds all the Panelview Standard prgrams for about 16 different units in our plant. We have them on DH485, DH+, serial, RIO and ethernet, but I use the same method to update any of them.
I do the editing on my desktop and save it as a .pva "Panelview Terminal" file. Then I get it to the laptop using my thumbdrive. From there I drag and drop it onto the ATA type PCMCIA memory card, carry it to the machine, go to the config screen, and restore it to the Panelview.
It's also faster than even ethernet transfers in my experience, and much faster than serial.
You can also use the config screen to "save to" the memory card to get a copy of the existing program, and reverse the steps I listed to get it back to the office for editing or safekeeping.
All you need is an
ATA type memory card and a PC with a PCMCIA slot. (That link was the first one I Googled, not necessarily the cheapest or the best).
The other benefit is that you can teach any technician how to restore an application to a replacement panelview without using that fancy dern 'puter...
