No question - just an FYI
I recently had a customer who was using a PTV with a local display using the DVI port. They wanted to move the monitor to a location that was about 25ft (of cable) away and keep the use of their mouse.
Well, we all know that the limitation of USB is limited depending on what standard of USB the device is. In the Redlion PTV's case...it is USB 1.0 compliant. So I went to town with purchasing roughly 8 different styles of extenders. But with USB 1.0 being so old, it took purchasing different extenders to find out that even the backwards compatible units would not work. After I thought I exhausted all options, minus moving the Redlion PTV to the customers desk, I happen to run across this http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030313&p_id=6042&seq=1&format=2. And it was only by accident, while I was purchasing some supplies. If you notice, this device is USB 1.0 ONLY. Not a 2.0 backwards compatible device.
Since I was placing an order and for the cheap price, I bought it. And to my surprise is worked with a 30ft network cable.
So for anyone wanting to use the PTV with a mouse, farther away than 5ft, purchase the Monoprice extender Part#6042.
