I have been getting a nondescript error, "MERRuntime.exe has encountered a serious error and must shut down" and have found nothing in documentation directly addressing this situation.

The application is very small, 3 screens, no chance of memory issue, according the Rockwells compatibility wizards the products and firmware are OK, Confusion has arrived! All functions between the PV+600/1000 and Micrologix work perfectly, no comms issues.

Resetting the terminal is required to correct the condition.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions. First time I have ever had this kind of issue with a PV+

Most likely the firmware in the PV+ has become corrupted.
Try factory reset and reflash the firmware.
Obviously you will have to reload the .mer
