Hello all,

this is my first post, I'm Mauro and I'm glad to meet you all here.
I've developed a SoftPLC application for a customer, but I'd like to change architecture soon.

Actually the architecture is: advantech computer + labview + rockell micro 850.
The rockwell micro 850 is used only as remote I/O.
My software (written in Labview) Reads the I/O via modbus, processes logic, Writes the updated I/O.

My target is to rewrite the whole software on PLC.
The type of the automation is a "batch" like use of the controlled machine, so I've to save:
Recipe sent to PLC
Readings of the PLC data/calculations at beginning
Readings of the PLC runtime data
Readings of the PLC data at the end of the operation
I've to be able to identify these datasets on the embedded computer.

I was thinking about some OPC server + Rockwell Micro 850 PLC, but I'm worried about licensing and HMI solutions.
There are not many tags needed for logging realtime data: between 30 and 100 probably should do the job.

The embedded computer and PLC will be in field with local display and a 4x4 keyboard (0-9 + F1,F2,F3, . , <-) which must allow the operator to navigate and use the local interface.

Remotely I'd like to use a client only solution for HMI or, in case of multiple accesses, server + clients.

Any suggestion is accepted.

Best regards and thank you very much

Mauro

AdvancedHMI has drivers that work with the Micro800 series. It is free to use with the only license restriction is that you have to distribute your application under GPL which means the end user must be able to get access to the full source of the AdvancedHMI solution.
