I was reading some threads concerning instructions , WallClock , etc.
What is the difference between a 1769-L32E and a 1769-L18. Are both capable of doing the same instructions ? I need to convert some information from EtherNet/ IP to BACnet / IP . I should not have any issues , correct ?

Thanks in advance ,

Hardware wise the L32E is used in a modular system. Meaning the L32 is the processor you will need a power supply, 1769 Series I/O Modules and Terminator End Caps to complete the system. The L18 is a "Brick" style of PLC. The processor, power supply and Digital I/O are all contained in the same unit. You can add up to 8 Point I/O modules to the L18.

Firmware wise the L32E can only be flashed up to V20. The L18 is part of the newer 5570 Compact Logix family and as far as I know can be flashed up to the current version V28. So while the 2 different platforms will share 99% of the instructions and feel the L32 will not be able to use items added to the firmware after v20.

As for this I am not sure what you are trying to do. Do you want to use the PLC to do the conversion? If that is the case you will have to use a converter to make that conversion. Prosoft shows a conversion gateway on their web site. Its a external converter but should do the job.

Maybe if you can give us some more info on what you want to do we might be able to give you more details.
