Ge-Fanuc 90-30 plc

Will you plz suggest me for the following problems.
We are using Ge-Fanuc 90-30 plc in our plant and we have proficy machine edition 6.5. we have two remote I/O(RIO). The rios consisting of PS, NIU and I/O cards. When I am connecting the laptop(with proficy machine edition installed) via cable IC200CBL002 And one serial port converter with the NIU, And try to go online with the target, it is unable to go online. Message is coming: Time out(after 10 attempts).

Pls suggest me what are the problems may be with us.

What NIU are you using? I have only been able to get online with a Genius NIU using a laptop with a real serial port. None of the USB/serial converters I have tried have worked even though they work fine with the PLC.

I believe this is true of any of the NIUs however you may want to try the latest firmware for yours.

The NIU What I m using is IC200GBI001. I will try for the latest firmware. Thanks Mr.RussB and Mr. S. Bailey

Unless the firmware upgrade is in the form of a chip, you will need a serial connection to do the upgrade. Keep looking for a computer with a real serial port if you plan to keep the Genius NIU.
