Hi,

I was wondering what program you recommend to use for making graphic objects (buttons, bargrafs etc) for HMI. Often the enigneers softare is poor for making object and I think it would be smarter to make them in other program and import them?

Adobe Illustrator is the most popular in the graphics arts world for drawing illustration type drawings. Inkscape is a free alternative. If you do not have experience in vector art, they can have a steep learning curve.

Thanks for the tip! Never heard of Inkscape. Going to try it out myself.

Thank you for the input, I will Inkscape now in first place.
The project I have now I don`t need anything fancy, so I hope it`s not to steep learning curve :)

I also like Inkscape; it's free GNU and works well. Not as complicated as trying to learn/use Adobe.
You'll want to start by getting some SVG graphics already made for you.

A quick Google search for free SVG icons will get you started.

This library is available to buy, but only looks useful if you are in the process industry.

Although not quite SVG graphics, this is a free library for networking equipment for industrial automation. They are a systems integrator in Australia and just couldn't find graphics for our industry, so they made their own.
The graphics are for LibreOffice, but you could export them from there into SVG.

Thank you for the beedback and information. I have installed inscape and it looks like I need to use some time to learn to build icons, maybe find some guides and training examples?
search for SVG icons you suggest?

Hi kire, I have used Integraxor for my last project, the SCADA uses Inkscape as HMI tools. We also bought the SVG library from them since it is within our project budget, and we ended up using most of the images in the pack to complete the HMI.

When I was developing, I referred to these tutorials and user guides, you may have a look. :)
