CP5611 does not start on VMware

The Siemens Simatic CP 5611 does not start on a VMware virtual machine, with Windows XP SP3, installed on a Field PG M3.
It gives an error: " This device cannot start. (Code 10) "
Has anyone seen this before?

As far as I know, you cannot attach PCI cards to a VM.
USB devices can be attached.
Ethernet cards can be "bridged".
