What you think about this
I have a 1747-AIC
The AIC has one RS232 Port, one RS485 port
So connect a PIC to the SLC502, Connect the other end to the
rs232 port of the AIC. Connect the Ethernet Cable to the PC and the other end to the RS485 Converter. Connect the RS485 end of the RS485 converter to the AIC.
But what driver would you use in Rslinx
Any ideas

the slc 5/03 and the 1747-aic module does not have Ethernet capabilities.

the slc port is dh485 and rs232
the ports on the 1747-aic module are DH485, not Ethernet.

to connect to the pc you must have an interface converter
usb - 1747-uic
1747-pic
1784-pcmk card and 1784-pcm4 cable
serial cable and null modem (I think) for the slc 5/03
or an allen Bradley programming cable.

If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

Did you do a google search for the user manuals?
the aic information is from the ab manual I found online.

regards,
james

Your post is a jumble of different devices and ideas, but I think the basic idea is that you want to connect from Ethernet to an old SLC-5/02 controller.

The best way to do that is with a third-party network bridge. The EquusTek DL-3500 is the subject of some drama and conflict, but I understand that it does work.

I think you're probably thinking of a 1761-NET-AIC, rather than a 1747-AIC. The 1761-NET-AIC does have two RS-232 ports, while the 1747-AIC has none.

Nonetheless, there is no role for a 1747-PIC or a general-purpose Ethernet to RS-485 converter in your system.

In general, if I had a machine with an SLC-5/02 on it, I would use the USB/DH485 1747-UIC device to maintain it, and to plan for an upgrade.
