help to convert TIA project to V13

i need a little help, i got a project file from one of my friends this project file is belonging to him for one of his projects, he sent it to me for the sake of exploring and learning how the project is designed.

now the project is on Siemens TIA V12 or V13, but i couldn't be able to open the project on my laptop which has Tia portal V13 .

if some could help me to convert the file so i can open it in my laptop i will be very happy and i will appreciate his effort.
 
Just use TIA and open/convert it with V13, click open and I think it will prompt you that it needs to be converted
 
Did you click on the project or open TIA then click open and select the file? I have had issues just trying to click on the project without opening TIA first
 
That file isn't big enough. Get him to zip up the whole project folder and send it to you. Unzip it and open it and it should work.

You can also use the archvie/retrieve function within portal, so you don't have to go find the project folder itself.
 
i would ask my friends to send again.


but generally what the steps should i ask him to follow so he can send me a valid and complete project which later i will just open it in my TIA v13 ?
 
Ask him to "archive" the project within TIA software.
It will create a"xxxx.zap" compressed file.
This will be the entire project and can be used to "retrieve" the complete project when using your computer.
