Any Expert Ti545 Programmers?

I NEED HELP
I AM TECHING MYSELF TO PROGRAM A TI 545.
I HAVE THE BASICS AND PRACTICED ON A TISOFT 4.0 GOOD ENOUGH BUT ONLY OFFLINE.WHEN ONLINE
IF I ADD OR CHANGE A POINT CAN I JUST EDIT THEN SAVE?
OR DO I HAVE TO FOLLOW THE BOOK THAT STATES THAT I HAVE TO CHANGE PROGRAMMING SOURCE TO RAM THEN REUPLOAD BACK TO PLC?
BOOK SAYS SOME PARTS OF ORIGINAL PROGRAM WILL BE LOST?
ANY ADAVICE WOULD SURELY BE APPRECIATED
