I'm using a barcode reader and was having trouble reading I2of5 barcodes. The scanner manufacturer's people advised me to turn off looking for the check digit as - they say - many make it incorrectly. Well, looking at my customer's barcodes and looking up what sources I could Google it looks like the check digit was done correctly. Could the bar code scanner manufacturer be wrong?

The question is - does anyone have a real ANSI reference for the generation of the check digit in Interleave 2 of 5 barcodes?

Hi Bernie,

I use "I 2 of 5" all the time and have never used the check digit. I do know that there are two check digit standards: USS and OPCC.

I have never researched the difference - so can't give you any more to go on than that . . .

Good luck,

Marc
