Hi All,
I'm going to replace PLC Controller from PLC-5/40C with ControlLogix5000 1756-L73, while the I/O's were using 1794-Flex IO Modules.
Question: is there any limitation for Flex-I/O Series or Revision Number compatibility with ControlLogix5000 (1756-L73, Firmware Rev. 19.13)?
Does all Series or Firmware Revision 0f 1794-Flex-I/O compatible with ControlLogix5000 1756-L73 ?
Appreciate for your prompt response/comment

Check the FLEX I/O adapter part numbers and firmware revisions VERY carefully.

The first generation of PLC-5C and 1794-ACN/ACNR modules used early versions of ControlNet called "Phase 1.0" and "Phase 1.25".

In particular, Solar Turbines deployed a large number of generator systems that used ControlNet Phase 1.25 controllers together. Many of these were sold in oil and gas applications, and quite a lot of them in Indonesia.

Part number 1785-L40C was a "ControlNet Phase 1.25" PLC.
Part number 1794-ACN and 1794-ACNR were "ControlNet Phase 1.25" adapters.

1784-L40C15 and 1794-ACN15 and 1794-ACNR15 are all "ControlNet Phase 1.5" products that are compatible with ControlLogix 1756-CNB/CNBR/CN2/CN2R modules.

Some of the 1794-ACN/ACNR modules with Phase 1.25 firmware can be flash upgraded, but those firmware kits are no longer provided to customers in the field. I don't know if Rockwell is doing remanufacturing services for such upgrades or allowing their own field engineers to do them. The last one I did like that was 18 or 19 years ago.

Dear Ken,
Thank's for comment and advise, so, 1794-ACNR15 is compatible with the ControlLogix5000 regardless the Controller and 1756-CNet Interface model or Revision Number.
How about the Flex-I/O Modules revision Number such as 1794-IB16, 1794-IE8, etc, are any revision or series all compatible with 1794-ACNR15 and ControlLogix5000 ?

Over the past few years, I have not experienced any issues with Flex I/O and ControlLogix, and we have now upgraded a few systems from PLC5 to CLX.

But as Ken says, check the revisions. When you are creating the new Flex racks on CLX, ensure that you put in the revision of the I/O module correctly where possible. Probably more of a potential issue with the intelligent modules like comms, analogs etc.
