Hi,

I'm looking for a pc based, cheap... <$500 tool to acquire data from a machine via serial modbus. My customer wants to use this tool to monitor, graphically trend, write to file, and change setpoins. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jim

Greetings jimpad,

If you are interested in customizing your own software using visual basic or visual C, You may look at these people www.adlinktech.com

They have a software package called "Daqbench".

It's a group of Active X controls that serve all your needs and more (including Modbus communication)

I tried Daqbench many times, (I didn't try the version that includes modbus Active X control).

I attached a screen shot of my last SCADA project (600 I/O). one of the main tools I used for the interface was "DaqBench".

Note: not all what you see in the screen shot is "Daqbench", for example: the Tanks were made using 3Dmax, the buttons using Adobe photoshop and the alarming part also is a custom made.
"Daqbench" does contain these objects, but they doesn't look beatiful to me.

Also you may check www.ni.com

You may also search for packages using www.google.com , You 'll find a lot of products.
