DC Drive information

Dear all,

Please suggest me a site, which contains information of DC drives, i dont wat to learn any particular model, but basics, if any body knows such sites, please mail me on [email protected]

I want to know how the dc drive of L&T make connected to motor, its connection specification and programming also.

Overall it isnt drives you have to learn about, its DC motors, learn how they work and the different types then the drives will be easier to understand.

Basically a drive, AC or DC, is an electronic device that is used to control the operation of the motor. You connect incoming power to the drive and output power to the motor, knowing the motor and operation will help you in knowing what will have to be connected along with motor leads...ie thermal, field, series, shunts etc etc.

Reliance has been doing DC drives and motors for about a 100 years. I have had to deal with ALOT of Reliance DC drives because they were common and popular in the US.

Good advice, Ron! If there is one thing that bears repeating over and over is that the business of drives is first and foremost the business of motors.

I about croak when forced to discuss drives with drives sales people who haven't a clue about motors. This is particularly a problem when the drive manufacturer doesn't make motors in addition to drives.
