I'm looking for free information resources on the subject topic.

Also looking for information on different plant devices, i.e. Motors, Valves.

Does anyone have any free information on these?

Go to some of the trade publications like Control Engineering http://www.controleng.com/ and look at some of the sites for manufacturers listed. Subscribe to a couple of these publications, which are usually free, and you will get a good overview of practices and trends.
