Hi,

We've a customer using PLC5/25, I notice there are 3 comm ports.

One 9 pin female DH+ programming port (1784-PCMK)
One 3 pin DH+ comm port
One 3 pin RIO comm port.

The RIO comm port is fully utilize (max 8 nodes).

We need to get a small PV for the system, can we use the 3 pin DH+
comm port for comm between the PLC 5/25 & the new PanelView? If not
mistaken the 3 pin DH+ comm port is shared with the 9 pin female
programming port, if the 3 pin is connected to the PV, can we still
access the 9 pin female port for programming purpose at the same time?

Thanks.

Yes, 9 pin and 3 pin connector can be used same time as they part of the same DH+ network.Normally 3 pin used to network with other devices and 25 pin used to connect a laptop.

Hi,

Thx for clarify, u mean the 9pin is to comm with n/book using 1784-PCMK right?

Besides that, I don't see any settings for DH+ port in RSLogix 5, is that normal? I know their baud rate is fixed @ 57.6kbps, but the nodes settings? Probably dip switches?

yes, the node settings are configured by dip switches on the back of the processor

The 5/40's have a 25 pin comm port in the front...... There may be a little confusion happening here on this point....

Yeah, 5/40 have 25 pin serial port, but original platform PLC5 like PLC5/25 does not have any serial port, even they have 9pin female port, but it's for DH+ comm. :)
