Is OPC becomeing independant from COM/DCOM ?

With OPC XML-DA, OPC no longer is based on COM/DCOM,
it uses Web Services instead.
Thus it should be possible to use it also on Linux.

Has anybody experience using OPC XML-DA ?
Will it replace OPC COM/DCOM or will they live side by side ?
We are just investigatin, if we should integrate it into http://pvbrowser.org .

Very intresting idea. Any years ago I found "lightOPC" project, but it cannot had OPCfoundation standard and died. OPC XML-DA is a first specification of OPCfoundation. Now very small number of OPCfoundation members are developing new OPC XML-DA soft.

you notice that "Toolbox C++ XML-DA Client" is still under construction.

I'm looking forward to test the toolbox.

I'm find "OPC XMLDA 1.01 Specification" and some binaries, examples of source for members at www.opcfoundation.org

Unfortunately I'm not an OPC foundation member.

Thus I can only read the specification and
not get the example code.
