Configuring PLC5/30 with ASB

Can anyone point out a source of information about configuring basic RIO (to an ASB) communication (using RSLogix5). I'm using a PLC 5/30. I have tried using the autoconfiguration. It requires a status file (I used 81...just pulled out of my hat) and then after autoconfig I can find a file N81 listed in the data table. But when with the ASB powered up I have no ASB activity light, and no PLC5 channel B activity light and can't force the outputs on the card I installed in the chassis.

I am basically just hunting/pecking at the setup, because I can't find good instructions about the installation/configuration process. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Did the autoconfig process result in a "rack" being detected ?

The most common mistake in RIO is the wiring; try reversing the blue and clear wires on the 1771-ASB and see if the adapter LED starts blinking green.

Oops sorry thats for an slc, but there may be some pointers there ?

Once you got this message you should be able to see your remote rack in the channel configuration.
If not, I would start with chassis and ASB DIP switches.
Make sure this new rack number will not overlap any existing local and remote racks.
