Im doing a project using RSView32... and a network of 5 SLC's all on DH485.

What I have done is run 2 of the SLC's off of the DF1 ports directly into the pc to save bandwidth.

I have 3 slc500's each giving about 300 tags each over the same DH485. Is this pushing what I can expect it to do?

Ive put all the tags in integers close to each other
ie N100:0-100 for bits
and im using n100:100/0 for bit level

Any comments?

Well, it depends on your polling rate... excluding packet header information and ACK/NAK responses, your basic data is:

3 SLC's * 100 Words * (16 Bits per Word + 4 Bits for Comms) = 6000 Bits total, so at 19200 Baud, you can probably handle that, polling at once per second. I don't know what the actual DH485 Protocol adds, but even figuring it doubles the required bandwidth, that's still only 12000 bps.

Considering messaging turn-around time though, you are probably just about at the limit for 1/sec polling.

Just a guess, of course.

thats cool, i could go out to 3000s without issue
I was thinking

if i set up 2 seperate topics per plc

have one at 1000ms for start/stops

have the other at 10s or even 30s for my trending and other stuff.
the trends go over 24hrs minimum fitted to the display.

Thanks for the answer!
