high speed counters

hi 2 all,

i wanted to know what is meant by high speed counters
and what r its application in automation and how it is implemented

Quite simply, to keep track of things that happen faster than normal PLC scan rates. High Speed Counter modules can process signals independently of the PLC. Many of them have their own outputs. You can think of one as a high speed PLC embedded in a larger PLC.
