PV1200 to PV+

[font=&quot]Is there an easy way to migrate from a Allen Bradley PB 1200 to a PV+ 1250 ??? I remember reading something about migration tools to for 1200 to 1200e. Will I have make sever steps or will I have start from scratch?

The conversion from PV 1200 to PV+ 1250it is a two-step process:

1. Convert from PV 1200 to PV 1400e application using PanelBuilder 1400e software.

2. Convert from PV 1400e to PV+ 1250 (RSView ME) using RSView Studio.

Talk to your distributor's PLC specialist and see if he will do the conversion from 1200 to 1400e for you. Most will, especially if you are going to buy more stuff (PV+) from them. That will keep you from having to buy software that you may only use 1 time.

I have done what mgvol describes several times; many users of the Classic PV's don't have the software for those nor the Enhanced PV's and it's a waste to buy it only for the conversion step to RSView ME. PanelBuilder 1400e is also a bit cranky in Win2000 and XP, so I installed it on a fresh hard drive at home. I ended up also getting a hardcopy of the 1400e screen format and tag database.

Depending on how big the project is, it could be a big effort or a little one. A recent three-screen project I had no trouble doing overnight. Another customer who turned down a quote for engineering services to do his 56-screen project took nearly 6 months to dabble his way through it.

The first step is to get your hands on the PanelView 1200 project file and have somebody run it through the 1400e software. You could probably even get that done here on the Forum.

I'd agree post your 1200 software app here and im sure plenty of us would do the 1400e convert for you
