I have a customer with a tranfer line. Down each side are 8 AB 1394 servo systems.

I had a thought that you could use serial to ethernet adapters and hook up each of them to the computer that they have set up near the operator console.

I know that people have been doing this type of thing with CNC machines. Anyone have some input on this scheme?
