Hi,

I've come across a customer using IDEC Micro-1. FC1A-E1A1 & FC1A-C1A1 (Expansion unit).

If not mistaken this Micro-1 is an obsolete model. Can we use back the program uploaded/backup previously and download it to the latest model of IDEC (small modular type)? This system only have 18DI & 12 DO.

If it's not possible, we might change the PLC to AB :)
Anyone done this before? Thanks.

Micro 1 was origionally programed with FA2SYS & FA2MON, which were DOS based applications. Real junk (the software). FA2SYS was for programming, and FA2MON was for monatoring the program for debugging. So you had to close one to open the other. You also need a link adapter and a mess of cables. I'm not sure if a more current software package would work for hit.

Here's the manual: http://www.idec.com/Products/ENG/PDF/manuals/Micro1_manual.pdf

BTW 18 inputs & 12 outputs would be a good match for a AD DL-06.

Hi,

Thx for ur info, but my concern is if we can get/upload the program from the Mirco-1, can we put the same program into current selling IDEC PLC? Most important current software is able to open the DOS ladder program in Mirco-1. Can we?

My experience with IDEC's WindLDR software was that it was fully backward compatable. The only thing to watch for is instructions that may not be supported with the new PLC's (not likely). Make sure that you change the PLC to the current one, and look into the communication settings.

Martin: Thx for ur info.

BTW, the output for the Micro-1 is sink/source type (referring to the manual). So, do you think is there any problem if we change to Allen Bradley Micrologix 1000 (1761-L32BWA), just in case.

Thanks.

We used to use a few of those same Idecs before the days of the AB micrologix. We have replaced them all with ML1Ks or ML1200s. Refer to the L32BWA's manual. If I recall correctly, it can be configured to work as either sinking or sourcing on the inputs.

Hi,

Yes, the input can be sink/source. But the output is relay out. So, this means relay out can be used as sink & source? SOrry, i'm not very familar with wiring connections.
