Inview Variable Display

I am trying to display an integer value in a variable for the Inview message display.

I have started witht he basic demo program provided with the inview software, and I have managed to trigger the messages, but I cannot change the variable value.

Has anyone else suffered this problem? and if so, how did you resolve it?
