Please help to find the correct hardware to interface SLC 5/04 with Allen Bradley Panelview ABPC 2711T10C3 for Tank level monitoring

1/ GP50 LOW PRESSURE TRANSMITTER
2/ WEST 8080 CONTROL 4-20mA process variable retransmit or 485 interface
3/ SLC 5/04 ( what input board to use to collect the DATA )
4/ Analog Input ?
5/ Digital Input ?
6/ ABPC 2711ND3 / Software to interface with Panel view 10.5 inches color

Thank You

To connect that particular PanelView (DH-485 comms) to the 5/04, you will need a 1761-NET-AIC (also referred to as an AIC+). Connect the 9-pin d-shell on the AIC+ to CH. 0 of the 5/04 (9-pin d-shell) with a 1747-CP3 or standard null-modem cable. Remove the 6-pin phoenix connector from the AIC+ and replace with a 1761-CBL-AS03 cable. Connect the RJ-45 end of the AS03 cable to the RJ-45 (DH-485) port on the PanelView. The AIC+ will require external 24vdc power, since it is not connected to a MicroLogix or SLC DH-485 comm port. As for your analog input, depending on how many channels you need, either a 1746-NI4 or 1746-NI8 will work. As for digital inputs, it will depend on number of inputs and voltage.

If this http://instrumentation-central.com/WestLit/8080.pdf is your controller then you have 2 options.

Option 1 (not the one I would use) is use the ASCII and RS485, I know the 5/04 can do ASCII the issue is in the details of making the physical connection.

Option 2 Retransmit the 4-20ma into an Analog module, possibly an NI4. If all you are going to do is monitor the temperature on the display then you would just scale/convert the 4-20ma values, it doesnt exactly specify but I think its 14bit resolution, which would offer 0-16384. These numbers you would convert for the necessary temp range.

Technically you could probably eliminate the West controller and just connect the thermocouple to an SLC card, AB has cards designed to work directly with thermocouples.

Thanks mgvol, I do have AIC 1761-NET-AIC and intend to hook up complete

1/ GP50 LOW PRESSURE TRANSMITTER
1A/ 22 Tanks with 8080 West Control / Linear out put and RS-485
2/ WEST 8080 CONTROL 4-20mA process variable retransmit or 485 interface
2A/SLC 5/04 AIC-1761
2B/ AIC to Panel view
3/ SLC 5/04 ( what input board to use to collect the DATA )
4/ Analog Input ?
4A/ Do I have to use the Analog input board / 1746NI16I ?
5/ Digital Input ?
6/ ABPC 2711ND3 / Software to interface with Panel view 10.5 inches color
6A/ Software for Panelview Builder ?
Thank You
Wally/Prestone

4A) As for the 1746-NI16I module, I don't think you have to use it, unless you have to have 16 inputs and/or isolated analog inputs.
6A) PanelBuilder32 is the software (2711-ND3). If by interface with the PanelView you mean communications, you only need RSLinx Lite, which is included with PanelBuilder32.
