Siemens TP170B

Hello,

there is a touch panel, siemens tp-170b, connected to the simatic S7-300 (314) PLC... it has been working just a well, but now TP shows error 190100, type - 2, number - 1.

According to the manual, that error means that TP's program is corrupted or so...

There is another similar TP that work well with that PLC, so I have a tend to think that the problem is in the TP, but I believe it's not dead and just program have to be re-downloaded... is that right? And Can I upload program from one TP and download it to another(I just have not that project on PC, so the only one way to get the program is to upload from another TP)? what should I use? ProTool? WinCC?


anyone ever have meet such error? any thoughts?

If you can get to the Windows control panel then you can easily backup the TP170 to a standard Compact Flash card.

If there is no button or function in the application to access the Control Panel, then cycle power to the TP and wait for a start menu to appear. Be quick to select "Control panel" before the runtime application starts automatically.
Then use the Backup/Restore utility that you will find amongst the utilities in Control Panel.
The backup will be a complete image of the panel Win CE, DLLs, protool RT file etc.

sounds cool.. I was thinking about backup/restore function, but I did not know that standard Compact Flash card might be used! just to make sure I understand you correct, so something like that card http://www.palmshop.ru/img/memory/verbatim64_cf.gif may be used?

and what size (MB) should I get?

Now I'm wondering if there is a way to do something similar with S7-314 CPU's, is it possible to copy program from one PLC to another by using external flash card or so...? can I download program from external flash card to the PLC?

If the S7-314 is a recent model then there MUST be an MMC card in it for it to run.
To exchange the CPU, you just move the MMC card from the old to the new CPU.

Older S7-314 models have a combination of battery and MC card program backup. You can recognize the MMC card in that it is much smaller than the older MC card type.

the cpu made in 2002, the memory card slot seems to be pretty big, little bit larger than compactflash cards....

this cpu was working well without MC, but then internal program were erased... so now it can work with MC (there is a similar program on it) only...

so i'm wondering if there is a way to download the program from MC to CPU, so it will work without MC again? I have tried to find it in a S7-300 manual, but have found nothing, may be because it's for newest cpu mostly...
