Hi folks...I posted this over at MrPLC.com also and thought I'd post it over here too. I have a S7-315-DP processor at work with an SF light flashing. I could not get the Step7 software to communicate with it so I sent it out to one of our local electronics repair shops but it came back "unable to repair". I can't find anything in the manual that shows just the SF light flashing by itself. Has anyone else seen this and pehaps know of a way to "reset or repair" this processor or should I make a paperweight out of it?

Thanks and later...Todd

Question

Hi ToddM.

Is the CPU in run mode? Do you have distributed periphery or any device connected to your 315-2DP through the DP port (the one on the rigth). Do you have any other red led on other card.

To get the STEP 7 you can contact your local Siemens office. They would give you a 15 days demo or give the name of a industrial software company that is familiar with Siemens equipment.

Best Regards,
Kelkoon

Hi ToddM!
I have never experienced that only the SF light is flashing, but one time I had to set about an S7-416 CPU that had ALL the leds flashing. After a long search in the Siemens site, I found out that I needed to upgrade the firmware. After the upgrade it started to run like a watch. (how is that proverb translated anyway?).
This was not directly an answer to you question, but anyway...

(sorry for my misspellings)

Todd,

I have had something similar happen to me, but it was with an S7 412, SF light flashing and unable to communicate with it, using either MPI, Profibus or Ethernet via the 443-1.

I had to bin it and get a new one, Siemens did take the old one back as part exchange, which gave us a bit of money off the brand new one.

I never did find out what was wrong with it.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear there, I've already got the Step7 software, I just could not get it to connect with the processor.
