I need to set an Abort sequence as follows: I have a Type K Thermocouple on a heater coil which has JP7 fuel running through it; If there is a sudden increase in Temperature (which indicates a ruptured coil)I need to abort. Any Ideas?

How sudden is sudden? 10% in .1 sec?

Are you using ladder logic or function blocks or structured text as your language?

How about a simple compare based on time?

Jim, 50 deg. in 5 secs.;I am using ladder with function blocks, I have tried a counter (INT) with a timer, however I need to reset say ever 5 secs. Steve

Jim, Picking back up... I have tried a "counter" to count the Temperature increase incrementally for a specified period of time (timer); however, I need to be able to reset the rung every 20 seconds or so. Any ideas?
