Move data from ML1500 to PLC-5

Hello everyone. I am searching for opinions on getting data
from a Micrologix 1764-LSP to a nearby PLC-5/40. I have never
attempted communication between a micro and a plc5, so I called
the local AB rep, and they had two suggestions:
- upgrade the micro to a slc 5/05 and use DH+, OR

- use the MSG command to query the micrologix serially

Now for a question. We currently have a 1761-NET-AIC and
a 1785-KA5 DH+ to DH-485 module on the shelf. Is it possible
to connect the PLC-5 to the DH+ port on the 1785-KA5 and then
connect that via DH-485 to the NET AIC module, which would then
be connected to the Micrologix, and after all that, be able to
put the data into the 5/40? This would be the cheapest solution
since we already have these parts available (so of course this
is what the boss wants me to do) .
Thanks in advance for assistance.

two reasons:

1- I was hoping it would be simpler to move the
desired data over if the 1500 appeared as a
network node, and

2- since I would be tying up the 1500's only com
port, I was hoping I could connect
my notebook PC to the DH+ and do ladder
modifications on the 1500 that way, but I'm
not sure either of these reasons are possible/
practical.
