Step 7 V5.3 serial backup

Hi guys. Just got the new V5.3 of Siemens Step 7. I've always kept a backup using 'Diskcopy' and 'Anadisk'. I don't trust 3.5" floppy mediums. Anyways I went to use the same method as I used to use for V5.2 and earlier... it doesn't work!! I get a 'corrupted license file' when i go to use the backup copy to install. Any suggestions from other experiences?

I've tried doing the same thing, had the same errors,but left it at that. I think the problem results from it looking for a ID or serial number on the disk, and since it does not match original we get errors. Sorry was not able to help any further. Should you ever find a way around this please post it on forum.
 
Yes. I'm replying to my own thread. Well, I've found a fix. Simply 'move' the licenses from the new V5.3 disk to your computer. Stick your old V5.2 disk in. 'Move' the licenses off the computer to the V5.2 disk, not the new V5.3 disk. This disk is able to be backed up the old 'classic' method. Good Luck.
 
If you analyse the V5.3 disk with Anadisk you'll see that it's simply another track thay have messed with than the old version keydisks. Use that info and you'll be able to backup the new keydisks as well.

What track have they messed with?

on the old disk it was Track 78 side1 sector 18 that was changed to 80

Do you know what they have changed on the 5.3 disk?
 
Now - I'm not condoning anyone being naughty !!

but ... if you do that 5.3-->5.2 diskette trick , do you not lose the floating status of the license ?
