AB 1746-IR8 Lead Resistance Enable Bit

Any know exactly what these configuration bits (14 & 15) are for?
Is it to compensate the lead resistance wires errors automatically?
I read that the update time is slower if they are enabled so just want check if I really need to use them. I'm using P100 3-wire RTD's.
