Using Profibus for the first time

Hello
Iam attempting to use an omron CJ1M plc to communicate to THREE compax3 drive units via profibus.

The problem i'm having is
1. i haven't got a clue how profibus works
2. how would the plc and drive communicate data

All the kit has been already purchased . i.e. plc profibus network card and drive units

any info would be greatly appreciated

Somewhere on the site is an online training course on how Profibus works. There's plenty of documentation too.

Other than that, try the website of your hardware vendors.

If you are using CX-ONE you have CX-PROFIBUS installed. Look into it as it comes with the manual for setting it up.

If you do not have it, I highly recommend you get CX-ONE.
