Hi guys. silly question time. i have been told that a low battery alarm has come up for a s7300 plc. is there any special procedure for me changing it or can i just swap one for the other live.

Just swap the battery for a new one, but DO NOT switch the power off while you do this because, unless you have an EEPROM in the 300, you will lose the program.
