SLC 500 cable

I assume you're asking about a programming cable? I can't view the auction :( To connect to the SLC 500's serial port from a PC serial port, you need a null-modem cable.

Pin 1&6 to Pin 4
Pin 2 to Pin 3
Pin 3 to Pin 2
Pin 4 to Pin 1&6
Pin 5 to Pin 5
Pin 7 to Pin 8
Pin 8 to Pin 7

If you have an old fixed I/O SLC500, 5/01, or 5/02 CPU - the cable on ebay is what you need. If it is a 5/03, 5/04, or 5/05 with a serial port - the null modem cable will work. The ebay cable will also work with CH. 1 of a SLC 5/03.

If you are plugging into the DH485 (SLC 5/01, 5/02, 5/03), then you do need the adapter. It is an RS232 to RS485 electrical conversion with a special AB adaption.

A standard RS232<->RS485 converter will work if you are plugging directly into the processor. If you try a standard converter on a DH485 network, it will disable the network.
