Hi all
Tim asked a similair question but I though I start another post.
Providing you have a full version of VB6.0 with the MSCOMM addon, are you able to communicate with PLC any that has a serial port?

I have almost finished learning to program in C and will starting on VB shorlty and would be very interested in writing a pc to plc program as one of my projects.

Thanks

Hi, I studyed MSVisualC++ 1 yer and MSVisualBasic 1 week. I can do more with VB than VC++. If I must do application I do it with Basic, becourse C++ is as 'masochism' for application programming.

MSComm32.ocx is well explained in VisualStufio and you can do driver for any PLC's where is RS232C if You know the protocoll as Modbus for Modicon, Simatic PPI for S7-200, DF1 for A-B etc.. hard work enyhow, but nice.

Thanks Sep, yeah I dont expect it to be easy but Im still going to have a go. I will report if I have any success and definitly will be posting questions along the way!
