Hi all

I use a SLC 503 for my process control application. Presently a panel view is connected to channel 0 system (DH 485). I plan to introduce an RS View workstation keeping the existing panel view.

Please clairify if the following network connectons are correct.

Channel 1 system (DH 485) of SLC 503 will be connected to port3 of 1761-AIC using 1761-CBL-AS09.

The port 1 of 1761-AIC will be connected to the RS View work station COM1 using 1761-CBL-AC00.

In RS View channel editor, channel 1 network type is configured as DH-485. Then the node editor setup is configured.

Please clarify..

Alternatively, I have with me a 1747-PIC which presently is used for program upload and down load. Can the PIC module be used as a permanent network connector )like AIC module?)

Thank you

Rgds

DH-485 documentation is obscure and hard to locate - I usually end up with about four manuals on my desk when I set up a configuration!

You may not need the AIC module if you get a PanelView that has a DH-485 port. You should be able to tie in to your 5/03 CH1 port directly in that case. Tha AIC is essentially a 232 to 485 converter. Check with your local AB distributor - that's what they get paid for.

You can leave your existing O/I on the CH0 port (I am assuming it is set up for DF1 protocol.)
