My apologies to the PLC guys, but this site is about the only place for reliable automation question answers and I am feeling "lazy" tonight.

I have a Rockwell 160-AA12 three phase drive. Can I use this specific drive on a 1 phase service if I keep the load to 3HP (6.7A)240V?

Yes, you can supply it with single phase within it's voltage rating, but it's output must be derated. I think the manual covers that, condensed in with all the specs in the beginning of the book.

We have hudreds of those little drives and I really like them. I highly recommend shieldd motor cable. Our failure rate on machines with shielded motor cables is near 0. Ours all run on 3 phase, but occasionally blow a fuse. They'll keep on running sometimes, but will fault (I can't remember the code) intermittently. I started using fuse holders with blown fuse indicators on these drives to help us identify that situation.
