Can someone explain the concept of external reset as applied to PID control? I believe this concept may be of some aid in preventing temperature overshoot during the heatup phase of a batch reactor. Currently, I do a lot of special sequence programming to prevent this situation such as turning off the integrator or switching PID gain and reset parameters.
Also can anyone provide some information on configuring a PID to implement external reset using a controllogix or Siemens S7 PLC?
Thanks.
