Hi all,
Can any one elinghten me as to how to have these three packages (Intouch Wonderware,Top Server, Siemens s7-222) work togehter.

My control program runs on the siemens s7-222, I am planning to create the HMI in wonderware and Top server will be the server used.

I am looking for a layman explaination, and possibly some user friendly documentation/ website on the subject area to help out.

You will use TopServer, with the unified Siemens S5/S7 Suite driver to create an OPC link between Wonderware and the PLC. Depending on the version of Wonderware, you may also need to run on the PC the Wonderware OPC client (one of their servers).

Topserver is what translates the WonderWare tag reads and writes into something the PLC can understand, as well as the reverse function.

No, as you stated, TopServer is the OPC Driver for the PLC. It will interact with the PLC's data (provided you select the proper addresses to read/write).

If you have field instruments connected to the PLC, then you can read the state of them from the PLC, not the instrument directly.

If you have additional drivers in TopServer, for the instruments, then you can read/write them directly from WW.
