S7-300 CPU replacement problem

Dear All,

Our existing controller is S7-300 CPU315 (6ES7 315-1AF03-0AB0). As supplier cannot supply this controller, their suggest us use CPU314 (6ES7 314-1AF11-0AB0) to replace the old controller. However, I have two problem:
1. I cannot find the order number(6ES7 314-1AF11-0AB0) in the Hardware Config. I using STEP7 V5.1+sp4 and STEP7 V5.3+sp1. Both of these two version also cannot find the order number.
2. CPU314(6ES7 314-1AF11-0AB0) really can replace CPU315 (6ES7 315-1AF03-0AB0)?

Hi dwcy.

Yes the new 314 seems to have same or better specs than the old 315. There is even a newer 314 (6ES7 314-1AF11-0AB0) with even higher specs.

If you cannot find the new 314 in the HW catalog, then try to use the function Options .. Install HW updates (this is only possible with your newest version of STEP7). If you are attached to the internet, STEP7 will then download new HW profiles from Siemens' website.

In HW catalogue window there's dropdown list called "Profile", select "Standard" there.
