I know that if the module-number on your card is not the same as that module has in the HW-catalogue I need to install an new service pack or 'Upload' the new hardware.

But today somebody asked me if it is possible that a module with a different order-number then what I have in the HW-catalugue still will work. Meaning that for example I still can read real-world inputs.

I would like to test it but I only work with cpu312C's onboard I/O and I have no spare parts to test it. So if somebody can let me know I would be greatfull.

In case if you have newer module but in HW config older version is defined, it will work in most cases. With restriction - you will not have possibilities of newer version.
