Insulated copper conductors work best. Size the power and discrete wiring for less than 10% voltage drop.

I`ve tried this and it always lets the smoke out of my pld! Do i need to get a bigger one?

Use fieldbus only as Profibus or DeviceNet. Digital/Analog I/O are from previous millenium.

I'm from a previous millenium.

(I'd still use fieldbus though)
