CP342-5 Diagnostic

Hi there!

Normally I use FB 125 from Siemens to diagnose the profibus network. In this case I have a configuration where the DP Slaves are connected on an CP342-5 module.

I got this module working with the FC 1/FC 2 (DP SEND/DP RECEIVE) functions from the Simatic NET library. Now I want to get the same kind of diagnostic information I am used to get from the FB 125.

I the hardware configuration of the CP there is a button "Run diagnostic application" (don't know the exact words because I am not at my laptop at the moment).

This application provides lots of usefull information. (Connected stations, problems, etc) I want to be able to use this information for my HMI. According to the manual I have to use FC 3 (DP DIAG) when bit 1 or 2 of DPSTATUS from FC 2 is on.

So now I'am trying to find my way there. Anybody used this function before?

There is an example on the Siemens site but I don't have Siemens credits to buy it. (Can anybody share my a copy?)

Other tips/pointers on how to do this?

FB125 works with both integral and external DP interfaces, so it should work with the CP342-5. There is a pin on FB125 where you select wether the DP interface is integral interface or a CP card, to select 'external interface' this pin needs to be at logic level 1.

I know but the CP 342-5 is excluded and does not work with FB125. (It is somewhere on the Siemens site, if I find it again I will post the link)

Yep, found it. It didn't take much digging.

Does that mean that SFC51 cannot be used with a CP342-5 either? I ask this because SFC51 is used within FB125. I couldn't find any information about this on Siemens site

You can get quite a bit of diagnostics information using SFC51, maybe you can use this.

Werner, do you by any chance use WinCC Flex as your HMI ?
In WinCC Flex there is a "Report System Error" functionality. This should give the HMI as detailed diagnostics as STEP7 can do. I take that you then get diagnostics for CP342-5 too.
I havent used it myself, but within this month a Siemens guy shall walk me through the usage.
