Red Lion G308 to S7-313C MPI comms

I am trying to get a G308 to talk to an S7-313C (MPI int) without any luck.
I have tried 232 & 485 connections as per Red Lion cables and can't get any response.
I have tried setting the PLC down to 19.2k.
I have a breakout box in between and I see the screen is polling but there is no reponse from the PLC.

Anyone know the trick with these. (Siemens don't want to know of coarse)?

Are you using a MPI converter between the G3's 232 port and the PLC? A MPI HMI adapter is required for the communication. We sell the Helmholz SSW7-HMI, and I have also successfully used the Siemens 6Es7 972-0CA10-0XA0. Some customers in Europe have also used one offered by Process Informatik, although I am unaware of the part number.

The RS485 cable is for PPI communications to a S7-200 PLC.

Hi, I am using the 232 port with a Siemens P6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0.
I have made a CBLSIE02 cable and the D9 adapter.
I have checked that the appropriate pin from the RLC RJ12 is connected to the D9 pin as per the drawing.
I figured it should be straight forward and therfore I must be doing something wrong but haven't yet figured what.

The adapter is your problem. The adpater you are using is the PC adapter which is used for programming the PLC. A separate HMI adapter is needed for communications to the PLC.
