Could you please tell me the difference between the two Step7 licenses:

1. SIMATIC S7, STEP7 V5.4, RENTAL LICENSE FOR 50 HOURS, E-SW, SW AND DOCU. ON CD, LICENSE KEY ON FD, CLASS A, 5 LANGUAGES (G,E,F,I,S), EXECUTABLE UNDER WIN2000PROF/XPPROF, REFERENCE-HW: S7-300/400, C7

2. SIMATIC S7, STEP7 V5.4, DATA MEDIUM INCL. TRIAL LICENSE FOR 14 DAYS, E-SW, SW AND DOCU. ON CD, LICENSE KEY ON CD, CLASS A, 5 LANGUAGES (G,E,F,I,S), EXECUTABLE UNDER WIN2000PROF/XPPROF, REFERENCE-HW: S7-300/400, C7

Bear in mind that option 1 costs 10 times more than option 2 ?!?

Item 1- is used for maintenance personel- Every time the software is opened the clock starts. Close the software the clock stops.
Item 2- is used as a demo package, when the software is installed and opened a 14 day trial is activated. The 14 days is all you get.

The 14-day licence comes on the same diskette as the full license; I don't think you can buy it as a seperate package. It is a backup solution if you lose your full-license authorization, and once installed it runs out in 14 days (whether you use it or not, whether you uninstall it or not). You have to have it re-authorized (and the day count upgraded) at the same time you request the re-authorization of the full license. With the 14-day license you can still operate your authorized software while you are waiting for Siremens to contact you for re-authorization (they are very helpful by the way, had to do that exact procedure with my PDM software last month).
