Panel View

The other week one of our panel view 1000s was thought to have crashed. We did not have a PV1000 color in stock so we used a PV1000 monochrone. This PV had a DH+ comm board, we needed a control net. So I removed the control net from the thought to be bad PV and put it in to the replacement PV. When we tried to download the PB32 prog into the replacement PV we kept getting errors. This is the first time I really dealt with PVs on this scale, is it possible to download a program from a PV color to a PV grayscale? I know the color feature and some graphics would be eliminated but in principal is this possible? If so what could I have been doing wrong?

Did you convert it first, through Panelbuilder, or just try to write it in directly? Or did you copy it using a PCMCIA card?

Can you create a tiny new application from scratch, for a PV mono and rev level matching yours, and load it?

I have never tried swapping comms modules either, so I don't know if that is your issue.

That's one of the things about the Standard PanelView terminals that I don't like; you cannot replace or substitute communication daughtercards in the field. The formerly-DH+ PanelView is checking its communication daughtercard and finding the wrong type of module in there, and will not run with the ControlNet module. It's also being checked by PanelBuilder32 during download, and PanelBuilder32 is rejecting a download of a ControlNet-equipped project into what it thinks is a DH+ equipped terminal.

Whether or not you can load firmware into your "formerly DH+" terminal to allow it to recognize and run the ControlNet daughtercard is something I don't know. Tech Support may be able to tell you.

This is why the PanelView Plus uses modular communications; with the old platform was hard to stock all the variations.
