Does anybody know how to calculate / esmitate releif capacity of a safety valve? I need this figure to size some PSVs.

Cheers,
Mehdi

Most relief valve companies provide this data. Some even have free software to help with the sizing. You will need to know the upstream potential flow and the down stream back pressure.

The other factor that needs to aware of is that most countries have regulations governing the sizing of safety relief valves.

I should size these valves as per ASME VIII our API520. As an input for sizing formula, I should state relief capacity of valves.

Ken, I'm in sizing stage of valves not trying to know a given valve capacity.
