Graphical Programming Language????

Alrite guys does anyone know any information on Graphical Programming Language. From what i understand it is a type of virtual simulation.

What is it?

How is it used?

"Graphical Programming Language" is a generic term rather than a specific programming language.

It covers all type of programming languages where the programs are 'written' by connecting pictures together that represent program elements.

Ladder logic is one.

BUT... we all know on this site that the HNC course you are doing is stuck in an 80's - early 90's timewarp, so I would strongly suggest that you google a graphical language called GRAFCET, it's bound to be the answer your instructors are looking for...

Nice one mate. Yeah my course is seriously outdated! Ive seen something called GRAFCET in my notes, I will just look into that!!

Post #4 was by user inductiveautomation. I've just done a 'view all posts' search but although it finds all of his posts, none of them 'show'....must be either a glitch in the board or Phil's 'sin-binned' him...

If your looking for more info i suggest searching for LabView. I used it on a HND course a few years ago. I think is made by National Instruments. Its quite a good package, and from what we were told, quite well regarded.

As Martin has pointed out, LabView is one of the best known examples of commercial available graphic programming languages. IMO, ladder is a kewl graphic front end for a text (or script) based language (RSLogix and Step 7 as good examples).
