Read data in serial port. CompactLogix 1769-L31

I'm trying to read data on one of the 2 serial ports on the PLC CPU but dont know how to read this data. The PLC I use one of the ports (CH1) to connect to a PV600 (DF1) and the other one I want to connect a RS232 barcode scanner.

What I need is to access the data provided by the barcode scanner.

This is posible?
How I have to configure the comm settings on this port?
Third in the mainroutine how I read a mnipulate this data?
